The organizers of the recently concluded Ghana Diaspora Home Purchase Expo 2024 have decided to no longer hold the event every year but rather twice a year.

This follows the huge virtual participation and interest among Ghanaians in London, Germany, USA, Canada and Australia.
Participants/visitors benefited from free legal, investment and tax advice from experts in the various fields, while real estate developers who attended and showcased their products took turns showcasing and marketing their apartments, condos, condominiums, townhouses, serviced land and more.
The two-day expo, the first edition, was organised by HTS Constructions and sponsored by Nilex Properties with the theme: “Our Homes, Our Investment, Our Heritage”.
The expo attracted both physical and virtual Ghanaians and others from the diaspora who were planning to settle or own property in Ghana to interact with real estate developers who attended and exhibited at the venue.

Chief organizer Alex Osei-Owusu, who spoke at the end of the expo, said the aim of the expo is to create a unique adventure where people from the diaspora and real estate players can interact and do business. satisfied beyond expectations.
He said the interest and enthusiasm of the participants was overwhelming, “and we, the organizers, feel we must respond to their request and that is why we will organize another one during the year, before the December edition.” “Thanks to the main sponsor Nilex Properties Limited, who also built their ultra-modern 19-story block of open-air smart apartments, showcasing the luxury of city living,” he added. He said it was clear that many more “of our compatriots abroad have not been given the opportunity to participate and that in the future we will forge closer ties with these Ghanaian communities abroad to reach out to more Ghanaians and other non-residents to raise awareness of the vast opportunities in the real estate sector in Ghana.”

Mr Osei-Owusu said it was more convenient, safer and stress-free to invest in apartments or ready-built units rather than buying buildable plots of land, given the frustration of getting a piece of land without any disputes.
“That’s not all, after getting all the real documentation, if you are lucky, you will encounter another challenge which has to do with the artisans working on the land.
“So don’t waste your time with all that frustration with landlords and artisans. Just buy a ready-built house and move in,” he added. Mr. Osei-Owusu informed Ghanaians in the diaspora that the days of being advised to invest in building a house were long gone, the discussion now was that “if you have money, buy a flat or house instead of building”.

He said the organisers planned to make Ghana the destination (hub) for real estate investment and budget tourism in Africa. “We will also be moving the expo to locations outside Ghana with major Ghanaian cities such as London, Hamburg, Atlanta, Washington-Maryland-Virginia, Massachusetts, New York, Toronto and Sydney,” said Mr. Osei-Owsu, who is also the legal director at HTS Constructions.
