The Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) has extended its congratulations to Sam Nartey George, Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, on his nomination as Minister-designate for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations.

In a released statement, GIBA described the appointment as a significant achievement, highlighting it as a reflection of George’s steadfast commitment, deep expertise, and forward-looking leadership. The association praised the nomination as not only a recognition of George’s capabilities but also a major step forward in accelerating Ghana’s digital transformation.

GIBA emphasized that this development marks a crucial advancement in bolstering the country’s digital infrastructure and fostering technological progress. The statement also commended George’s proven track record in governance and policy formulation, noting that his experience makes him a key figure in advancing the ministry’s goals and realizing its vision.

The association acknowledged George’s unique blend of legislative and executive experience, stemming from his previous role in the Communications Directorate at the Presidency and his membership on Parliament’s Select Committee on Communications. GIBA stressed that this dual expertise will be invaluable in shaping his approach and decision-making as he assumes this important role.

GIBA expressed confidence that George will champion the interests of the broadcasting industry and collaborate effectively with independent media stakeholders to foster a robust and ethical media environment. The statement also highlighted that his dedication to digital rights and inclusivity aligns closely with GIBA’s mission to safeguard the independence of the broadcasting sector and ensure fair access to digital technologies for all citizens.

“His alignment with these principles,” GIBA added, “will play a vital role in driving policies that support Ghana’s digital advancement while promoting a diverse and principled media landscape.”
